Allchin on Longhorn
Jim Allchin people, Microsoft group vice president for platforms, discussed the recent decision in the Microsoft Windows "Longhorn" in the development of recorded information for Microsofts Channel 9, which is also posted on the Microsoft Download Center last Saturday.
"The bottom line is that we would make two major changes, and it is based on has been completed [Windows XP] Single completed [Windows XP] Media Center Edition] and [in Windows XP computer]-[2005] work with the [Windows XP] Starter Edition.
"It is time for us to sort of do think what we have done is to our customers in two ways, our cooperation partners, such as OEM, corporate accounts, consumers and developers? "And so on, we do think the two decided to change.
"The first change is that we want to to a hard core Longhorn client in the 06 hard core and the release of a server 07.
"The second thing we would do is that we heard feedback from developers, and they will think some of the Longhorn technical breadth, in the XP and Windows Server 2003, In particular, we plan is to adopt the "original" and to take "Indigo", so that those on the existing platform.
"In order to become more crisp about the date, we have already made some efforts, trade-offs, the trade well-off, we trapped for a period of time, as we get some feedback on what should happen with Avalon and Indigo, we have received feedback on WinFS, a pawn of the feedback was: well, we really like table access, and, oh, by the road, if we do so, then only some of the client scenes do not work as well, because we d really like the new synchronization to the server capacity, and we want customers - servers.
"So, we are in the situation, we stick to this path, or do we stop and take that feedback and do something about it? Therefore, we want to stop and do something.
"What does it mean is that the hard focus on date, the United States will not be in the WinFS client release, 06, it will be in the testing phase, and then at that time, they shipments will follow up with a bit late.
"Now I feel that the response from my perspective, this is new news today [Friday], its been incredibly positive, because I have personally talked to a lot of enterprise development , what conditions they must, in the deployment,¡¡ what they want regardless of the functional security.
", And then from the consumer side, people have told us that they hope that we can resolve the malicious software, and went to this problem. Along with the characteristics of the view that we already have, they still love all the searching, people on the plane of the media arrow UI and the like, but they really want us to ensure that we nail the basic knowledge, but also so that we spend a lot more focus on this point. And of course we also have air pollution index, we have been talking about, in addition to winning with the WinFS API, as it would not have shipped.
"So feedback has been super positive, some people are really dancing everywhere, as is how they say, Hey, I can really get this technology back in front of me and I # 39 sure that the hardware vendors are super happy.
