Microsoft Reaches SQL Server Milestones
Microsoft made several landmark announcement on its database product adopted Wednesday at its meeting in Seattle in SQL.
In these milestone, the company announced a community technology preview (CTP) of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. SP2 will provide support for data compression, additional business intelligence capability, and update the security of the common criteria. It also includes manageability enhancements, and support for Windows Vista and Office 2007. The CTP for SQL Server 2005 SP2 is available here.
In addition, the company announced that it has set November 30 as a press release to manufacturing (RTM process) date for Visual Studio Team System database professionals, the It is strange that the company refers to as datadude. The programme will provide change management, development, testing and deployment, through databases of Visual Studio tools. More information on datadude can download here.
At the same time, Microsoft also issued a release candidate (RC) of the compact version of SQL Server or sqlce. Reinforced concrete stage is the final stage of testing before the code is rtmed. If the naming convention for the product seems to be somewhat confused, and their impact. Previously announced products named mobile version of SQL Server.
However, the companys sales declined by that name, in favour of it everywhere as the SQL Server version, because they want to belittle the idea, it was just for mobile devices, the release of its licensing restrictions, maintaining the database, running on a computer. But last month, Microsoft suddenly drop that name, apparently because it is considered too similar to the database market leadership - S ybase the S QL anywhere. Also, it seems to be called sqlce may confuse customers, but also the long-term because Microsoft Mobile and Embedded Devices operating system called the Windows CE.
